Under the guidance of Science Teacher Cathy Law, each year, New Paltz High School students add to the Courtyard Gardens, inspired by the High Line park in NYC. The naturalized meadow includes native species of perennials and grasses chosen for their hardiness, adaptability, seasonal variation and attractiveness to wildlife.

This site has been a resource for residents of and visitors to New Paltz for nearly twenty years, with a team of dedicated volunteers updating information about local businesses, government services, and community goings-on. As of 2014, site founder Alan Stout decided to hands the reins to the site off to continue that long tradition.
Right now, newpaltz.org is in the process of being reimagined, and you can get involved. If you have knowledge or interest in what’s going on locally, there’s almost certainly a job that you can do. And because of the nature of the internet, when and where you contribute is extremely flexible.
Our needs include, but are in no way limited to:
- Artists who are willing to provide graphics and photography in return for credit on their work;
- Community organizers who would like to keep others updated on local activities; and
- Residents who would like to provide content that their neighbors might be interested in.

In an effective act of civil disobedience, there were dozens of gay marriages during the spring of 2004 in New Paltz, NY. New Paltz Mayor Jason West, Deputy Mayor Rebecca Rotzler, trustee Julia Walsh and local Unitarian ministers performed the ceremonies. Archival & documentary footage is used to show us the 2004 event as it happened.
